Pariaman Mayor Genius Umar explained, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Hoyak Tabuik party was not held for the past two years. Now, after the pandemic has subsided, the community is holding the cultural party again.
"At the urging of the community, both those who are in the realm and in particular overseas, from Tabuik Tuo and Anak Tabuik Pasa as well as Tabuik Tuo and Anak Tabuik Subarang as well as the City Government of Pariaman to celebrate this tabuik event again. Tabuik Piaman 2022 has been going on for 2 weeks, starting from 1 to 14 August 2022.
Genius said, from 2 years ago, this tabuik is almost the same. However, due to 2 years of not carrying out the tabuik, this year there were more guests.
"As many as 250 thousand visitors come to Pariaman City, if they spend 200 thousand/person, there is around 50 billion of money circulating in the community or the GRDP of our society. Imagine if the government held its own event, it might not be as busy as today's tabuik event, but with the tabuik celebration, everyone comes to Pariaman City," he added.

The tabuik naiak pangkek procession was carried out at the tabuik junction of Kampung Cino for tabuik subarang, and for tabuik pasa it was held in front of the people's market in Pariaman City.
Present at the event were Mayor of Pariaman Genius Umar, accompanied by Assistant II Elvis Chandra, Head of Dikpora Kota Pariaman, Inspector, Head of Library Archives, and Kalaksa BPBD.
Genius said, the tabuik naiak pangkek procession is a process to combine all tabuik accessories with all their knick-knacks into the body of the tabuik, such as the buraq, wings, tail, and bungo salapan, so that it becomes a complete tabuik that is ready to be torn apart before being thrown into the sea.
"We can see a lot of visitors filling all the roads, to see the tabuik naiak pangkek process, especially before noon until the afternoon, more and more visitors will come to Pariaman City, to watch the tabuik being torn apart until the tabuik is thrown into the sea at dusk," explained Genius.
