BUKITTINGGI, potretkita.net - Governor of West Sumatra Buya H. Mahyeldi Ansharullah, Saturday (24/12/2022) evening, in the Bukittinggi Clock Tower Area, launched and inaugurated the Visit West Sumatra (VBWS) 2023 tagline and the VBWS 2023 Digital Book.
The program with a meaningful tagline Visit Beautiful West Sumatra, is part of a joint effort spearheaded by the West Sumatra Provincial Government, in an effort to revive tourism, after being pushed back by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The launcehed was marked by the beating of gandang tambua by Mahyeldi, together with the Head of West Sumatra Dekranasda Ny. Harneli Mahyeldi, Mayor of Bukittinggi Erman Safar, and Head of the West Sumatra Tourism Office Luhur Budianda.
"The declaration of this program is an integrated tourism development strategy involving all stakeholders in West Sumatra, to increase the number of visits, and encourage economic value in all potential sectors in West Sumatra," said the governor.
According to him, as a first step in supporting the recovery of tourism in the Minang Realm, on 1 October 2022, the Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) entry point was opened with the Kuala Lumpur-Padang and Padang-Kuala Lumpur flight routes.
Thus, he added, foreign tourists, especially from Malaysia and other neighboring countries, could return to visit West Sumatra, and could reactivate the tourism sector and the creative economy.
As of December 1, 2022, a total of 4,775,129 domestic tourists and 8,535 foreign tourists have come to visit paid tourist objects in West Sumatra.
"Through the VBWS 2023 program, we are targeting 8.2 million domestic and foreign tourists to come to visit W Sumatra. We hope that through the 2023 VBWS Grand Launching we can widely introduce West Sumatra tourism and attract many tourists to come to visit so that the target is 8.2 million tourist visits can be achieved," said the governor.(diskominfotiksb; ed. mus)
