PADANG - Muhammadiyah continues to strive to strengthen synergy between business charities, in order to realize solid economic strength.
This was revealed at the West Sumatra Muhammadiyah Charity Business Coordination Meeting (AUM), Saturday (22/6), at the UNP Padang Complex.
Appearing as resource persons at one of the sessions in the coordination meeting were Member of Commission II H. Guspasrdi Gaus and national figure from West Sumatra H. Irman Gusman, guided by Nasrul A.
The coordination meeting was attended by the chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) throughout West Sumatra, the leaders of business charities under the Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah (PWM) West Sumatra, and the leadership within the West Sumatra PWM environment.
Deputy Chairman of the West Sumatra PWM, Yosmeri Yusuf, explained that a number of speakers were presented at the meeting. Specifically with Guspardi and Irman, he said, the theme raised was economic strengthening.
Yosmeri emphasized the importance of synergy between business charities, in order to create a strong economic force.
He highlighted that there are still many people who have not been covered by this economic movement, but with the right efforts, this can be overcome.
He hopes that events like this can also be held in other areas, because the potential of waqf land which has not been maximized could become an economic business field.
In his presentation, Irman gave his views on the Muhammadiyah economic movement. He emphasized that economic movements must be concrete and managed with professional management.
According to him, the increasingly developed capitalist system will not support people's efforts, because of its exploitative nature and developing into a new style of colonialism.
Irman invited Muhammadiyah officials to enrich their insight, by taking the example of New Zealand as the most prosperous and safe country in the world, where the majority of people are prosperous farmers who manage agricultural products in a modern way.
"In New Zealand, farmers can subsidize their children who live in the city, while in Indonesia children have to send money to their parents in the village," he explained.
He emphasized that Muhammadiyah must be able to boost farmers and people's businesses as a strategic choice to return to basics, by utilizing the social strengths and assets that Muhammadiyah has to advance the economy of citizens and associations.
Meanwhile, Guspardi emphasized that finances are not everything. He shared his experience of starting a business in 1985 with capital of only 1 million rupiah, but now has 350 employees.
"The Muhammadiyah conglomerate is actually unrivaled if it is managed well. Talking about economics is not just for economists, independence is a necessity, fighting power must not be extinguished and don't complain too much," he stressed.
Guspardi invites all parties to dedicate their expertise and work networks to advance Muhammadiyah, by consolidating business charities which are expected to enter the capital market, so that capital problems are no longer an obstacle.
He also highlighted the importance of managing education as an industry that must be able to face the challenges of underprivileged children.
"PWM Sumbar must appear at the forefront in the field of people's economy. Currently, the middle and upper economic circles are starting to worry, Muhammadiyah should be at the forefront of protecting the people's economy," he said.
Through strong synergy and professional management, Muhammadiyah is expected to be able to utilize the large assets it has, to significantly advance the economy of its citizens and associations.(kiprahkita.com)
